Water Plus Covid-19 Repayment Scheme for sites in England

We know it’s an uncertain time for many business and because of the coronavirus you may have difficulties in paying your business water bills.

To help with this, if you are experiencing difficulties paying or have experienced an unforeseen reduction in consumption as a direct result of Covid-19, we are able to offer a repayment scheme, which can run until 31 March 2021.

Is my business eligible for the repayment scheme?

You’re eligible for our Covid-19 Repayment Scheme if you’re having difficulties paying for your water, or your business has used much less water as a direct result of the coronavirus or related government restrictions.
Please call us on 0345 072 6072 if you believe you’re eligible for this scheme. We may ask for evidence of this, which could include meter readings showing a reduction in consumption, or financial statements showing a reduction in cash flow.

How does the scheme work?

If you’re eligible for our Covid-19 Repayment Scheme, we’ll work with you on a repayment plan that suits your individual circumstances, and ability to pay.

In most cases, the repayment scheme will be an advance plan or payment plan.
Advance plan – we set up a regular payment schedule that covers any outstanding amount you owe us and your future bills over an agreed time period.
Payment plan – we’ll set up a regular payment schedule to just pay the outstanding amount you owe us. Your regular bills will continue as normal and you’ll need to pay these too.
With both plans you can spread your repayments over 3, 6, or 12 months. We’ll work with you to choose the best scheme and timescale, based on your circumstances and the effect covid-19 has had on your business water use and finances.

What happens if I don’t make the scheme payments?

While you’re on a Covid-19 Repayment Scheme, it’s important you make the regular payments we’ve agreed to.
If you have any problems in making your payments please get in touch, so we can help.
If you don’t keep up with your payment plan, and don’t get in touch with us to agree something different, you’ll no longer be an eligible customer and we may charge you late payment fees and/or commence other enforcement activity such as cutting off your water supply or legal action to recover what you owe us.

What if my business is not eligible for the scheme?

Businesses that can pay their bills on time should continue to do so. If your ability to pay hasn’t been affected by coronavirus, billing and payment terms and conditions will carry on as normal and we reserve the right to carry the enforcement activity explained in or terms and conditions.
This may include:

  • Interest charges and late payment fees.
  • Cutting off the water at your site.
  • Potential further legal action.
