Severn Trent source water from the Elan Valley in Wales and transport it to Birmingham via the Elan Valley Aqueduct (EVA). The EVA is now over 100 years old and requires maintenance to keep it in service.
To carry out the necessary repairs Severn Trent need to take the EVA out of action. During this time water will be supplied from other sources in the Severn Trent region.
During the shutdown of the EVA the water supplied will remain within regulatory water quality limits, however the composition of the water from the alternative sources will differ to the composition of the water that is supplied by the EVA.
